Earth and Globes Pack

I’m excited to introduce The Pixel Lab “Earth and Globes Pack!” I’ve collaborated on this project with Simon Spencer-Harvey and Remco van der Meer. We’ve created over 55 earth, globe and solar models. Also included are 6 Xpresso rigs to help you create very intricate and custom animations. We have everything from realistic and high poly to stylized and low poly and everything in between. Artistic, stylized, lego, minecraft, tron, cloud scenes, milkyway, solar systems: we have a bit of everything for everybody! I hope you enjoy it!

(We also have this pack for Videocopilot Element3D in After Effects, if you’re interested. You can find that here.)

The models include textures. NOTE 1: They will NOT work in versions previous to R12. Note 2: The Graphical Xpresso rig, Realistic Earth Xpresso rig and Milkyway are very detailed and high quality with loads of options. Because of that you will need a fairly fast machine to use them, just be aware of this. Note 3: The Cloud Scene uses Pyroclusters so you will need the full Studio version of C4D to use that model. The Stylized Globe 3 uses Sketch and Toon so you will also need the full Studio version and will have to turn on Sketch and Toon in the render settings. Besides these two you can use all of the models with the Broadcast Version of C4D.

You may use these models for personal or commercial use, just not for stock or resale in any way. I have made a .lib4d file so you can load these models into your Cinema 4D Content Browser and easily access the models at any time! If you have any questions about the pack, please e-mail me at: [email protected]

      Hi Joren,
probably a superfluous question; but will these work in Element 3D VII?

      • Joren
        Joren02-24-2015

Unfortunately they’re only for Cinema4D, sorry about that!

        • Lasse Bauer
          Lasse Bauer02-24-2015

No problem – just wanted to avoid buying something that wouldn´t work 🙂

You can always export to Element 3D though. Animations included.

Joren, will this pack render in R12 Broadcast?

      • Joren
        Joren02-24-2015

There shouldn’t be any problems with R12. If you find any, just e-mail me and we will sort it out!

Hi Joren, very nice work! does any of these globes works with C4D Lite?

      • Joren
        Joren02-24-2015

Most of the globes should work with C4D Lite. I would think some of the more complex and xpresso driven ones would not. If you decide to purchase and have any issues, just let me know and I can help you out!

    5. karl
      karl02-24-2015

      nice stuff!
one q, do one or more of these maps come as separate countries (splines) so we can highlight, extrude certain ones?

      cheers
      /k

      • Joren
        Joren02-24-2015

Yes, the flat white extruded map is all splines so you can select the polygon face of the country you want and easily extrude it up

    6. Simon
      Simon02-24-2015

As I recall the text globe is also spline based, so you can extrude specific counties

      Thank you Joren,
Bought instantly and will definitely be used. Thank you for all you have taught me and shared.

What is the maximum texture resolution used on these? Would they be compatible with the 86K Nasa ones, or do you go even higher?

      • Simon Spencer-Harvey
        Simon Spencer-Harvey02-24-2015

        Hi Michael

As the pack is about 1.7gb, we didn’t want to make the textures too big, the largest textures are 40,000×20,000 pixels with quite high levels of compression.

You can of course download larger textures from Nasa, BlueMarble and/or other third party websites, in most cases you will need to assemble tiled images together in photoshop to create a single texture. please ensure you have enough ram, you will probably also need to work in a PSB format.

If it is of interest there is also a free 4k resolution animated cloud layer: https://vimeo.com/120179542

        I hope this helps?

        Thanks

        Simon

      Thank’s a lot

        Simon Spencer-Harvey02-25-2015

        Hi Julien
I assume you are referring to the xpresso graphical map?
Unfortunately the texture is not currently editable at this time. However I can provide you with a template if you like? Would you prefer an ai, eps, or pdf document?
        Thanks
        Simon

Another amazing pack – how on ‘earth’ do you do it!?
Anyway, I’ve had a very quick play of getting these into Element3D, and with a little edit of the file and some use of EditOptimize….

Thanks for the update, looks good, great work!
However I assume the xpresso rigs will loose their functionality in this process?

        • Rogue Robot
          Rogue Robot02-25-2015

Of course – this will only work for basic models.
You need to collapse all cloners, get everything down to polygons, triangulate the mesh.
But then it opens in E3D fine.

Mb, in future u can make a languge pack, cos, i realy need it on russian languge. Or make manul: “how to rename countrs”.
      Anyway, g8 job! Very usefull!

        Simon Spencer-Harvey03-07-2015

        Hi Eduard.
I assume you are referring to the ‘Graphical Earth & XPRESSO Rig”? There is an editable illustrator file which is available on request. Or are you needing the user data XPRESSO HUD titles translating?
        Thanks
        Simon

    16. Joseph
      Joseph03-04-2015

Joren & Simon, love the pack.

Rogue Robot, any chance of getting a tutorial on exporting for use in Element?

      • Simon Spencer-Harvey
        Simon Spencer-Harvey03-07-2015

        Hi Joseph
        This might help you: https://vimeo.com/49391176
For best results you need to be good at UVW map editing and baking. Most the models should be convertable to 3DElement (except the bespoke XPRESSO rigs of course), but it will just take some patience.
        I hope this helps?
        Thanks
        Simon

“You may use these models for personal or commercial use, just not for stock or resale in any way.”

Does this preclude the sale of images or animations on stock sites rendered from c4d that include elements from this pack?

      Nice work BTW.

      Thanks, Bob

      Hi there,

First, great looking product. Second, will this work with c4d r17?

Also, i am not sure if you are familiar with the Game of Thrones show but i am trying to re create the opening scene to the show where i need a flat map of florida and a way to extrude buildings.. will this product help ?

      • Joren
        Joren01-07-2016

Hey Ben, yes, this product will work in R17. I don’t think it will help you for extruding Florida on a closeup though, these are more globes rather than detailed close up maps unfortunately. Let me know if you have any other questions!

    20. Ceri Pashley
      Ceri Pashley01-28-2016

      Hi,
Does the either the graphical or realistic globe come with a city lights map, if so can you animate this on in the rig? The picture above the click to buy has city lights, so I was hoping it is included.
      Cheers Ceri

      • Joren
        Joren01-28-2016

Hey Ceri, it does have a texture that has night lights. What I would do in your case is find that texture (in the content browser in the tex folder, double click it, then save it onto your hard drive) and open it in After Effects and do a little cross fade animation in there with the original earth texture so it changes from day to night, or you could mask it so it wipes across etc. Then load that rendered movie into your C4D texture and it should look pretty cool!

      Hi Joren
Does the Earth & Globe pack work with R17 Team Render ?

      • Joren
        Joren07-04-2016

Toby, I don’t see why it wouldn’t. You could purchase and do a test and if you have issues let me know and I can help or get you a refund, but I don’t see why it wouldn’t work…

    22. Eric duPlessis
      Eric duPlessis03-16-2017

Suggestion. Please include the low-poly Earth in at least one of your low-poly packs. Currently it only lives in your Earth pack, and i’m in the process of building out an explanatory vid and although I liked (and could use) elements from your low-poly pack, I only NEED a low-poly Earth. Unfortunately, i’m not going to buy an entire Earth pack just for the low-poly version and of course not going to buy the entire low-poly pack if it doesn’t come with what I originally came for. Sorry for the rant…but just figured others might have run into the same situation.

Nothing but love for you folks. Peace
      Eric
