Redshift and Cinema 4D just got a big upgrade! They have made huge changes to the way you shade volumes. They have added a new “Standard Volume” shader, and made the old material obsolete. The new one is great, but it is a bit different. If you have a VDB that has a Cd color channel, where the color was baked into the simulation (out of Houdini etc.) and you want to access it, the process has changed.
In this tutorial, I’ll walk you through how to set it up. It includes a new node called the “Volume Color Attribute Node,” where you can tap into the Cd color channel. Enjoy!
The latest Redshift update completely re-made how we handle volumes, introducing the new “Standard Volume” shader. In this tutorial, you will learn how to access the Cd color channel using the new system.
